The Obama Administration has cleared its busy schedule to entertain and confab with an important visitor to the White House. I’m not referring to such notables as Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, who Obama was too busy to meet with in 2012 when Benjamin flew all the way here and was snubbed at the White House gates.
I’m talking about another important visitor: Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, a radical Muslim Brotherhood cleric who sat down with officials in late June 2013 to discuss such weighty issues as poverty, global health, and the threat from al Qaeda.
Being lectured on al Qaeda by Sheikh Bayyah is akin to receiving ethnic sensitivity training from Adolf Hitler. In other words, you don’t get advice from one Islamic radical on how to tame the radicalism of other Islamic radicals.
Nevertheless, the meeting was held with scant attention from the major media, which was too enthralled with the President’s pending African tour to worry their little heads about one meeting in the White House with a radical Islamist. What’s the big deal, anyway? They seem to be saying by their silence. Only Fox News covered the meeting with an appropriate degree of alarm.
Here’s what’s wrong with inviting terrorists of this, or any, ilk to the White House (as if we really need to explain why): First, Obama’s envoys had traveled to Mauritania last year to entreat Sheikh Bayyah to come to the White House for this meeting. Mauritania, by the way, still practices slavery. Yes, blacks enslaving blacks. The abolition of slavery in the United States is what has allowed Obama to become its President. I think the reader can draw the obvious conclusions about the hypocrisy in play here without me overstating it. Where’s the outrage from black Americans?
Second, Sheikh Bayyah is one of the bad guys, not one of the good guys. He deserves a trip to Leavenworth, not a red-carpet welcome to the White House. Bayyah endosed a “fatwa” (Islamic religious edict, often in the form of a death sentence) in 2004 calling for the killing of Americans in Iraq.
Fighting and killing American troops in Iraq was a “duty” for Muslims, Bayyah said at the time.
Bayyah also recently capitalized on the terrorist attack on our consulate in Benghazi by demanding that western governments support global Islamic blasphemy laws, which would make it a crime to defame Islam. Bayyah began making this push around the time that Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton falsely began pushing the bogus YouTube video as justification for the Benghazi attack.
It was almost as if the administration and Bayyah were in cahoots—but it must have been just a coincidence, right?
Bayyah said at the time: “We are extremely concerned with a small active minority in your countries that seeks to perpetuate a state of conflict and war (Jews, Christians, conservatives and anyone else who practices our First Amendment right to freedom of speech). We estimate that such objectives do not serve the general interest. Therefore, it is our hope that you reconsider and criminalize the denigration of religious symbols, as such provocations do not serve the principles of free speech, principles that you and us both seek to uphold.”
In other words, practicing our freedom of speech does not serve the principles of free speech AS DEFINED BY RADICAL ISLAMISTS.
As vice president of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, a group founded by Egyptian cleric Yusuf Qaradawi, a Muslim Brotherhood leader, the group has called for the death of Jews and Americans. Qaradawi, the sheikh’s boss, himself is banned from visiting the United States.
Bayyah has also raised money to fund the terror group Hamas, one of the Muslim Brotherhood’s favorite charities. And he has worked side by side with Bill and Melissa Gates, his two favorite American dupes, to lobby in favor of Islamic blasphemy laws which would allow some nations to torture, maim, imprison and even execute those who speak out against Islam. Of all the causes and starving children in the world to throw their money at, why would the founder of Microsoft and inventor of Windows settle on this one?
And since this White House meeting roughly coincided with the launch of Obama’s tour of Africa, the continent with some of the worst human rights abuses in the world, why didn’t we hear the President of the Free World speak out against some of these abuses?
Mohammed Morsi, Obama’s Muslim Brotherhood candidate in Egypt, has been thrown out of office. Almost immediately, the Muslim Brotherhood predictably began to riot and kill people in order to retain power. The same group Obama’s White House recently hosted.
Also coinciding with Obama’s African tour was the beheading of a Catholic priest in Syria by al Qaeda jihad fighters. These fighters were the same ones that Obama just days before had announced he would be funding in their fight against Syrian President Bashar Assad.
What’s more, while in Africa Obama didn’t once mention the slaughter of thousands of Christians by Muslim extremists, specifically the al Qaeda-linked group Boko Haram in Nigeria which has vowed to “eradicate Christianity.”
In fact, the week after Obama left Africa Boko Haram assassins entered a school building and slaughtered dozens of little children, shooting some in the back and stomach, in order to stamp out western education in Nigeria. One student held up a hand to fend off the attackers and the assassins shot his hand off. Then they torched the entire school, burning some students and teachers alive. In all, 42 have now been pronounced dead from the assault.
Where is Obama’s outrage? Why doesn’t he open his mouth and say: “It’s wrong! Killing in the name of Allah is wrong!”
Secretary of State John Kerry at least said something in response: He urged Boko Haram jihadists to use “restraint” while engaging in genocide.
Obama has not wasted one word denouncing any of these atrocities. Not one word speaking out in favor of free speech, or freedom of religion.
Instead, what great human rights did he peddle to war-ravaged, poverty-stricken, Islamist-controlled Africa?
Gay marriage. That’s right. Obama’s greatest achievements of taxpayer funded health care, legalized marijuana, abortion on demand—all topped off by gay marriage tragically sanctioned by our own Supreme Court—didn’t go over too well in Africa. It was uncomfortable to watch some of the most violent and corrupt despots in the world hem and haw uncomfortably as Obama encouraged them to cure the ills of their regimes by making gay love, not war. He didn’t actually say that, but what he did say couldn’t have sounded more ridiculous and out of touch.
Right now, my own free-speech rights are being challenged as I fight a $30 million lawsuit against me brought by a Muslim organization with terror ties and a long criminal background. Because I exposed this in my new book, “Twilight in America,” they are suing me, along with my co-author and my organization, Christian Action Network, demanding my book be banned from publication.
They want to silence me, gag me, and strip me of my free-speech rights. My plight doesn’t compare to the freedoms being stripped from Christians throughout the African continent by Islamic jihadists. But I mention it to illustrate how important it is for our President and administration to stand up for our rights not just abroad, but right here in America. The atrocities that occur abroad do have international consequences, and we should not ignore them.
There is an appalling silence from our President that punctuates these atrocities, and makes them even more heinous.
After learning that the Muslim Brotherhood had been hosted at the White House, author Andrew McCarthy summed up Obama’s pro-Islam ideology best: “The enemy is not at the gate; he has skipped across the welcome mat.”
