Are my eyes deceiving me?
The Left in America appears to be taking notice that Islamic Sharia law is a bad thing. What precipitated this apparent turn-around was the kidnapping of hundreds of school girls in Nigeria by the al-Qaeda-linked terror group known as Boko Haram. Their name means: “Western education is a sin.”
This newfound outrage from the Left manifested itself recently when Hollywood A-listers like Jay Leno and Ellen DeGeneres came together to protest a hotel in Beverly Hills which is owned by the Sultan of Brunai. If you don’t know where Brunai is, neither did I, until I looked it up on the map. It’s an Islamic nation south of the Philippines whose leader, the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, has just imposed hardcore Sharia on all its citizens. This same sultan is also the owner of the hotel in Beverly Hills, hence the Left’s recent public picketing.
The Left’s outrage over Sharia is admirable – and long overdue. Their outrage over the kidnapping of these school girls is also admirable. Sharia law is a horrific, bloody, despotic system that should evoke outrage. It is so totalitarian that Muslims are even instructed how to wipe themselves. The lust to impose Sharia is what drove Boko Haram to kidnap the girls and prevent them from being educated.
I even saw a picture of First Lady Michelle Obama on the internet today holding up a sign that reads: “#Bring Back Our Girls.” On her face she wears an expression of heart-felt anguish.
But why, I ask, has it taken THIS incident to outrage the Left? Just a few days after the kidnapping the same band of blood-thirsty savages, Boko Haram, went on another killing spree in Nigeria slaughtering more than 300 people, many of them Christians. They sprayed them with bullets, hacked them to pieces, and set them on fire.
Yet, not a word about this outrage from the Left, nor have they expressed horror over the hundreds of thousands of Islamic outrages committed around the world in the name of Islam and Sharia. Why is that?
This is a rhetorical question, of course, because the Left is incapable of following a coherent ideology, or defending themselves intelligently without resorting to invectives like “you’re a hater,” “you’re a racist,” “you’re intolerant,” and their ilk.
How else can the Left’s protection of Islam’s radical ideology in America be explained? Yes, they have not just been silent, but they have protected this ideology.
Remember the Fort Hood shooter who screamed “Allahu Akhbar!” as he opened fire on our military personnel, killing 13? President Obama nearly stood on his head to avoid calling it terrorism. To this day, the mass murder is called “workplace violence,” even though the killer himself admitted he was an Islamic terrorist. I don’t remember one Democrat or Hollywood elitist calling out the President on the use of this sickening euphemism for Islamic mass murder. If they were offended by this Administration’s refusal to call terrorism, they remained silent.
To further illustrate the Left’s incapability of properly identifying the bad guys, look at the so-called “hate list” propagated by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Not only is my organization on that hate list because I have spoken out against radical Islam, but fine organizations like the American Family Association, and other conservative Christian groups, are also targeted as “haters” because they oppose gay marriage, radical Islam, or engage in “general hate.”
Will Jay Leno and Ellen DeGeneres be named as “haters” to this list because of their recent protests? I think the answer is obvious.
This hate list has also been used by the Obama Administration as the final “naughty and nice” list when it comes to indoctrinating our military. The U.S. Army even circulated the list to our troops, warning them to watch out for “extremists” such as evangelical Christians who, they say, pose a serious threat to our nation.
My message to the liberals, the Left, the Hollywood establishment and all those who are jumping on the anti-Sharia bandwagon because it’s the hot new popular movement is this:
It may be too late. You may have waited too long to use your considerable megaphones to impact this fight on foreign shores. It’s doubtful that the small contingent of 20 advisers that President Obama reportedly sent to Nigeria can really rescue all these girls from the hell that their captors are putting them through.
Many of them have already been sold into slavery and forced into underage marriage. Some have died. They are but an infinitesimal number of victims of radical Islam and its legal system, Sharia, around the globe since 9-11. Nation after nation has toppled to this obscene and savage system. The nations of Europe from which most of America’s forebears emigrated are teetering on the edge.
Consider this: A British man recently stood in public and recited some words from Winston Churchill, the late prime minister considered one of the world’s greatest leaders. He was arrested for “hate speech” because it is illegal to criticize Islam in England. He quoted, in part, the following from Churchill’s writings on the 1899 conquest of the Sudan:
“Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it … No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith.”
Our own President is a supporter of the type of “anti-blasphemy” laws that resulted in the speaker’s arrest in Great Britain. If hate crime laws already in place in the United States are expanded to include speech against Islam, the Hollywood glitterati who are now protesting Sharia overseas will be silenced.
Even some of our own founding fathers would have to be incarcerated under this new mindset. John Quincy Adams, in describing the message of the Quran, wrote:
“The precept of the koran is, perpetual war against all who deny, that Mahomet is the prophet of God. The vanquished may purchase their lives, by the payment of tribute; the victorious may be appeased by a false and delusive promise of peace; and the faithful follower of the prophet, may submit to the imperious necessities of defeat: but the command to propagate the Moslem creed by the sword is always obligatory, when it can be made effective. The commands of the prophet may be performed alike, by fraud, or by force.”
Has anything changed in all these centuries?
To any Democrats, liberals, leftists or even moderates out there who are finally realizing with horror what Islamic Sharia law really means, I hope it is not too late for you to make a difference.
Even if it is … welcome to the fight.
