Call the mass murder of Christians what it is: genocide

By the Christian Action Network

Christians and other ethnic and religious minorities in the Middle East are currently being targeted by Islamic extremists for harassment, displacement and outright slaughter.

Even Hillary Clinton has declared the mass murder of Christians, Assyrian Chaldean Syriacs, Armenians, Melkites, Yezidis, Turkmen and others by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also known as ISIS, to be an act of “genocide.”

She’s not alone. One hundred and seventy members of Congress agree, co-sponsoring legislation to declare the murderous actions of ISIS as “genocide” and a “war crime.”

Titled H. Con. Res 75, the legislation was introduced by Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.). Track its progress in the graphic below:

Christians in particular are being tortured, mutilated and killed in the most heartbreaking and horrendous ways. Ancient, holy manuscripts are being destroyed. Christian monuments are being blown to pieces. Churches are being turned into rubble. It’s not happening just in the Middle East, but throughout the Islamic world.

H. Con. Res. 75 was passed unanimously by the House on March 14, 2016. Its next stop is the United States Senate.

The Christian Action Network has begun a petition to support passage of this resolution by the Senate. Please take a moment to sign this petition, directed at Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and make your voice heard.

H. Con. Res. 75 needs to pass as soon as possible.
