On July 9, 2018 Judge Brett Kavanaugh was nominated by President Donald Trump to be appointed to the United States Supreme Court.
During his 12 years on the appellate bench, Judge Kavanaugh has written over 300 decisions.
He has been described as “Impressive,” “one of the most qualified nominees ever,” a judge with “a proven commitment to equal justice under the law.”
But where does he stand on issues of religious freedom, sanctity of life and the right to bear arms?
Here’s the truth: EXPOSED.
On religious freedom, Judge Kavanaugh has written:
“When the government forces someone to take an action contrary to his or her sincere religious belief…the government has substantially burdened the individual’s exercise of religion.”
On sanctity of life, Judge Kavanaugh has written:
“The government has permissible interests in favoring fetal life…and refraining from facilitating abortion.”
On the right to bear arms, Judge Kavanaugh has written:
Rifles and handguns “are in common use by law-abiding citizens for self-defense in the home, hunting, and other lawful uses.”
Judge Kavanaugh promises, if appointed to the United States Supreme Court, to “always strive to preserve the Constitution of the United States and the American rule of law.”
“We believe,” Kavanaugh has written, “that changes to the Constitution and laws are to be made by the people through the amendment process and, where appropriate, through the legislative process – not by the courts snatching that constitutional or legislative authority for themselves.”
