Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot tells LGBTQ to gather their ‘arms’ and ‘fight to victory’

In a warlike tone consistent with the violence-racked city of which she attempts to be mayor, Democrat Lori Lightfoot is issuing a “call to arms” in response to the leak of a U.S. Supreme Court draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, reports The Post Millennial.

A tweet posted May 9 by Lightfoot was full of warlike talk and imagery: “To my friends in the LGBTQ+ community — the Supreme Court is coming for us next. This moment has to be a call to arms. We will not surrender our rights without a fight — a fight to victory!”

In contrast to what many respondents on social media labeled a call for open warfare, Lightfoot was preaching peace and nonviolence when she tweeted about the Jan. 6, 2021 march on the U.S. Capitol: “I am in disbelief with what is unfolding in D.C. right now. President Trump and his enablers incited this violence. Shame on every elected official in Congress and elsewhere who fomented this anti-democratic insurrection by extremists. This is not democracy. This is a disgrace.”

With seemingly grave, pacifist concern she added, “To every staffer, elected official, and Capitol employee: please stay safe.”

Lightfoot’s May 9 “call to arms” came after activists spent the weekend marching to the homes of Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh in an attempt to threaten and intimidate the Supreme Court. Opinion author Justice Samuel Alito and his family were moved at the same time to a secret location to ensure their safety.

Violence is actually already under way, with the Madison, Wis. headquarters of Wisconsin Family Action, a local pro-life group, having been hit with a firebomb early on the morning of May 8, Mother’s Day. The attackers in that incident spray-painted the wall of the building with: “if abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either”.

In response to that arson attack, Lightfoot said earlier in the day, “we can never, ever sanction any kind of violence… regardless of what the motivation is.”

Earlier on May 9, the apparently conflicted liberal mayor announced a “Justice For All Pledge” and dedicated $500,000 for transportation and lodging for women coming in for abortions from out of state. She declared Chicago an “island of reproductive freedom” for the Midwest — that is, a place to end the possibility of reproduction by destroying fetuses.
