Private Investigator Says Jamaat ul-Fuqra Threat Increasing

J. Hagmann, a licensed professional investigator that serves as the
director of the Northeast Intelligence Network, a group of
civilians that research terrorist threats, says in a new report on
NEIN's website that the threat to the U.S. from the Jamaat ul-Fuqra
group is increasing.
Jamaat ul-Fuqra is a group based in Pakistan that operates a branch in the United States called "Muslims of the Americas." The Christian Action Network's 2009 documentary, "Homegrown Jihad," is about how the organization has approximately 35 isolated compounds used for paramilitary training in the U.S. A videotape just released by CAN shows such training taking place at "Islamberg," the Muslims of the Americas' headquarters near Hancock, New York.
The Northeast Intelligence Network released a report about "Islamberg" in 2006 based on covert surveillance and research, concluding that the site was being used for guerilla warfare training. Hagmann writes that he was visited by law enforcement officials to warn him that the group's Pakistan-based leader, Sheikh Mubarak Gilani, had distributed his personal information to leaders of the various compounds and instructed them to stop NEIN's investigation.
According to NEIN, on June 24, 2008, shortly after Hagmann and his son stepped out of their vehicle, the car "suddenly burst into flames." The cause, they say, was never determined.
The latest report by the group concludes that Jamaat ul-Fuqra has moved some of its training from "Islamberg" and other cites due to the media attention but that training and recruitment is increasing.
"Currently, Jamaat ul Fuqra members are conducting paramilitary training in other areas, including more remote mountainous locations within our national forests. It may also surprise some that similar paramilitary training is taking place at urban locations, including mosques and Islamic centers in New York City and upstate New York," Hagmann writes.
"Such training is often disguised by seemingly benign description as personal defense classes that are needed, of course, due to the anticipated backlash against Muslims because of incidents like the Fort Hood massacre."
The report also quotes one member of Jamaat ul-Fuqra who has been receiving the training as saying "we are getting ready…the Day of Atonement is at hand."
