Even after the New York Times itself wrote a story saying that Antifa is active in the violent riots in Portland, Ore., New York Rep. Jerry Nadler is now on video calling violence in Portland by Antifa a “myth.”
“Protests” there against racism in police forces were declared a riot on July 26.
The House Judiciary Committee Chairman was asked to disavow rioting in the Oregon city by writer-producer Austen Fletcher, according to the New York Post.
“I ran into Jerry Nadler in DC and asked him to disavow the Antifa violence/rioting in Portland. His response? ‘THAT’S A MYTH,’” Fletcher said in a tweet accompanying the video.
In the video, Nadler tells Fletcher that it’s a “myth that’s being spread only in Washington D.C.,” before getting into his car.
The New York Democrat, who played a prominent role in the Democratic impeachment of President Trump, is being hammered online for his comments. Among those blasting him was Eric Trump.
“This is the Democratic Party in 2020,” the president’s son tweeted.
Elijah Schaffer of Blaze Media also reacted to startlingly dishonest statement in the video:
“Portland is at war every night, but Rep Jerry Nadler says my video coverage of Antifa violence & vandalism is a ‘myth,’” he wrote. “Antifa is very real, & they are incredibly dangerous.”
Protests in Portland were declared a riot early Sunday as thousands threatened a federal courthouse where federal agents were stationed as guards, police said.
