Baptist News – Evangelist Franklin Graham warned that a bill supported by Democrats prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity presents a “clear and present danger to religious freedom.”
The Equality Act would add LGBTQ as a 1964 Civil Rights Act protected class. Currently prohibited is discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex or national origin. Observers say the bill as written, passed by the House in May, is unlikely to pass in the senate.
President Trump would probably veto it. Graham warned that America is one election away from it becoming law. “This legislation will have catastrophic consequences for . . . churches and faith-based nonprofits,” Graham said.
