Reuters – House Democrats accused President Trump of aggravating a southern-border crisis, saying he has not used funds available to help deal with a surge of migrants, and that he exacerbated the problem with his attempts to crack down.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that bi-partisan immigration reform, which eluded Congress and the White House for years, is still the solution. It is “inevitable,” Pelosi said on the sidelines of a Democrat Party meeting in Leesburg, Va.
In Washington, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, (R-TN,) also called for bipartisan discussions on immigration. He focused on tougher U.S. asylum laws, a move that Democrats expressly oppose.
