Illegal Immigrant Focus of Manhunt for Murder of Legal Immigrant Officer

Sacrimento Bee – Stanislaus County detectives searched a farmhouse about 12 miles south of Merced on Thursday afternoon in connection with the shooting death of a Newman Police Department corporal.

Sgt. Tom Letras said the property is one of several locations being searched as part of the investigation into the death of Cpl. Ronil Singh early Wednesday morning. The area of the search in the tiny town of El Nido is near the intersection of Highway 59 and East Roosevelt Road.

Officials from the Stanislaus and Merced County Sheriff’s Departments were on scene including SWAT and a crisis negotiation team.
