New Head of Major American-Muslim Group Connected to Extremists
The new Secretary-General
of the Islamic Society of North America, Safaa Zarzour, has
connections to the radical Muslim Brotherhood organization's
affiliates in the U.S., reports the Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily
Report.
Internal Muslim Brotherhood documents have identified ISNA as one of its fronts in the U.S.. Zarzour also serves as a board member for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, another group founded by members of the Muslim Brotherhood who previously worked for the Islamic Association of Palestine, which was shut down by the federal government for funding Hamas.
"ISNA itself has a long history of fundamentalism, anti-Semitism, and support for terrorism and during the recent Holy Land Foundation terrorism financing trial, ISNA was named as an unindicted co-conspirator," the report said.
The Global Muslim Brotherhood Daily Report also says that Zarzour used to be the principal at the Universal School in Illinois, which has a Muslim Brotherhood member listed as a director, and other leaders in Brotherhood-affiliated networks have served as board members. The report also claims that there are links between the school and a nearby mosque that was found to have connections to Hamas and have been involved with fundraising for organizations found to be financing terrorist groups.
ISNA rejects allegations that it supports terrorism or extremism.
"ISNA remains consistent in its rejection of terrorism and violence. ISNA rejects all acts of terrorism, including those perpetrated by Hamas, Hizbullah and any other group that claims Islam as their inspiration," the organization's website says.
