CAN supporters weigh in on legal case

Supporters encourage CAN solidarity, write Charlotte County prosecutor William Green to end legal harassment

“It just breaks my heart,” writes Rebecca from Merritt Island, Florida, to the offices of the Christian Action Network. “Don’t get discouraged; I know it will be Okay.”

She was right; her prayers, and the prayers of many others, were answered when a prosecutorial fumble caused the littering charge against CAN in Charlotte County, Virginia, to drop.

That charge had been round two, and it ended as round one did, with Charlotte County Commonwealth’s Attorney William Green withdrawing the case.

Many are still writing in to ask, and the answer is, “not yet” – we don’t know yet if Green will try to pursue the case again despite Virginia’s litter law carrying a statute of limitation for one year – that ran out months ago for this charge.

Charlotte County charged the Christian Action Network, and president Martin Mawyer, with dumping literature on private property early last year – more than a year ago.

“If the facts are as you have described them, then you are indeed the victim of unwarranted harassment,” wrote Ralph of Bunker Hill, West Virginia.

Many wrote directly to prosecutor Green, asking him to reconsider the facts and end the spate of costly legal actions as CAN seeks to expose dangerous groups linked to Islamic terrorism.

“Evil, Mr. Green, ought to be exposed,” said Rev. David Bashira, who describes himself as an Arab minister of “the Arabic Church of the Nazarene.”

“These Muslims who are pressuring you, or promise you something, will come against you someday,” Bashira added.

“These Muslims are allowed to lie according to their book, the Hadeeth no. 1862...Muhammad the prophet says to Muslims, ‘A Muslim is allowed to lie to his wife to please her, to lie in war and to lie that he may make peace among people.’”

Bashira gave a worthy education on an Arab’s perspective of Jihadist culture, numbering his points and adding annotated contact information to informative sources.

“These Muslims in Virginia and other places in America are sent purposely...to do anything to put fear in this country because America is on Israel’s side,” Bashira said.

“You and I are infidels according to their book – no matter how much good you, you are infidel, and down deep in their hearts you and all Christians and Jews should be killed,” he added.

“I am very sure you know yourself what Muslims are...I urge you for the sake of Christ to release Mr. Martin Mawyer from the false accusations of these Muslims.”

Anne of San Antonio, Texas, wrote to tell prosecutor Green that a third try at a misdemeanor littering charge would go beyond the pale.

“I used to have the greatest respect for the state of Virginia, but this is totally outrageous, sir. I would really rethink a second time around, but a third time on this matter?” she said.

“There is a God, and his name is Adonai,” she added. Martin Mawyer “has every right to exposes any form of terrorism.”

Martin Mawyer expressed thanks to God for the many who responded to the time of need, and who have been involved with the case themselves. “I have seen it over and over,” he said.

“My Christian Action Network friends get involved – I’m telling you, it’s something anyone dealing with us has to get used to,” he added, You deal with one of us, you’ve got the rest of us in it too.”
