Muslim Womens’ Group Defends Alleged NY Bomb Plotters

The National Association of Muslim American Women (NAMAW) is accusing the FBI of entrapping four Muslims accused of being involved in a bomb plot, Israel National News reports. The alleged terrorists plotted to bomb a synagogue in New York along with military targets, and were arrested after they purchased a fake missile and fake explosives from FBI undercover agents.

"The FBI, posing as Al Qaeda-backed militants to brainwash and coax 'vulnerable' men into the walking trap of their own foiled terrorist plot, causes grave concern to the representatives of Muslims in American society," the group's statement reads.

Three of the four individuals are believed to have converted to Islam while in prison, The Christian Science Monitor reported. One was recorded as saying he had ties to Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistani terrorist group.

The imam of the Newburgh mosque where two of the accused Muslims worshipped has also accused the FBI of entrapment, LoHud.com, a news site that covers the lower Hudson Valley, previously reported.

NAMAW argues that the FBI agents first convinced them to engage in terrorism, and then arrested them for plotting. The organization also says that one of the men suffers from paranoid schizophrenia.
