On March 10, a group of counter-terrorism experts and activists held a press conference in Tallahassee, Fl., to bring attention to a group called United Voices for America, which they allege is tied to terrorism and radical Islam. The press conference coincided with a trip organized by the group to the capital.

The press conference included Frank Gaffney, president of the Center for Security Policy; Florida House Majority Leader Adam Hasner; Martin Mawyer, president of the Christian Action Network; Kelly Cook, the National Field Director of the American Congress for Truth; and Jerry Gordon, an intelligence analyst, among others.

The purpose of the conference was to warn the public about the leader of United Voices for America, Ahmed Bedier, who used to be the Executive Director of the Tampa branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). The organization was recently labeled by the federal government as an "unindicted co-conspirator" in the terrorism financing trial of the Holy Land Foundation, which was found to be a front for the Hamas terrorist group.

The Miami Herald reports that 100 Muslims met with legislators to celebrate Florida Muslim Capitol Day, which is being sponsored by United Voices for America. The Associated Press placed the number at nearly 200.

''This day is about including all Floridians in the political process, celebrating diversity and promoting civic participation for the betterment of the entire state. All people of conscience should unite in repudiating those who seek to divide Floridians along ethnic, racial or religious lines," the Miami Herald quoted Bedier as saying.

United Voices for America's website describes themselves as "a non-profit non-partisan civic engagement organization dedicated to increasing the participation of ethnic and religious minorities in the political process."
