UK Bans Critic of Islam, Allows Radical Muslim
The Sunday Mercury reports that the United Kingdom is allowing Ibrahim Moussawi, a journalist linked to Hezbollah, to visit the country but has refused entry to Geert Wilders, a member of the Dutch parliament who created a film criticizing the religion of Islam.
“The Government opposes extremism in all its forms. It will stop those who want to spread extremism, hatred and violent messages in our communities from coming to our country,” the British Home Office it said in explaining their refusal to grant Wilders entry into the country.
Moussawi has previously acted as a spokesperson for Hezbollah and has been criticized for making various anti-Semitic statements and supporting suicide bombings. The New Yorker quoted him in 2002 as saying that Jews are “a lesion on the forehead of history.”
Ireland has refused entry to Moussawi for his ties to Hezbollah, and the leader of the Tory Party in the United Kingdom has called on his government to do the same.
