Colorado students forced to wear Islamic garb on school outing

A Colorado school district has come under fire from parents in the community when a local middle school told girls that they will have to submit to sharia-compliant rules regarding covering their heads and ankles on a field trip to a Muslim mosque in Denver.

According to Western Journalism, the Douglas County School District, located just south of Denver county, informed students and parents that their daughters must abide by an imposed dress code for the world religions field trip taking place Tuesday, January 13. “All students must wear appropriate long pants. Ankles must be covered. Girls must bring wide scarves or hooded sweatshirts for the mosque,” the notice read.

An outraged parent contacted local media outlets to report the forced dress requirement, all of whom allegedly refused to cover the story except for one right-wing radio broadcaster out of Denver, Peter Boyles of KNUS 710. Boyles reached out to Principal Mike Loitz at Rocky Heights Middle School — the school imposing the dress requirements on female students — and Loitz confirmed in the interview on January 6 that they did ask students to comply.

Boyles noted one of the key issues with the dress code, pointing out that public schools are forbidden from holding girls to different standards than boys. “They’re holding these girls to a different standard – it’s a religious reason,” Boyles said in his broadcast.

“Islam dictates many, I believe – personal belief – repressive practices against women and Islamophobia will trump women’s rights,” Boyles said. “Animal rights every time, and the environment. That’s their belief – that’s wonderful. But don’t apply it to public school kids.”

It’s one thing to visit a place of worship for educational purposes and choose to comply with the religious dress on your own accord, but for a public school to force it is entirely different — and wrong.

After a firestorm erupted over forcing girls to submit to Sharia, the school issued a public statement to address the outrage, clarifying their stance on the issue, along with denying the claim that this is part of Common Core.

“For the past ten years, RHMS seventh-grade students take a social studies course that is partially focused on world religion,” the statement reads. “In the Douglas County School District (DCSD), we provide authentic learning experiences to all students. We teach students how to think, not what to think.” Addressing the claim this was part of Common Core, the county said, “Common Core does not include social studies. In fact, the world religion social studies course is part of the seventh-grade Colorado Academic Standards – meaning this is part of the state requirement for all Colorado school districts.”

So, if the school district is trying to teach students how to think and not what to think, why are they imposing a religious law on them that they don’t believe in along with participating in worship activities within the Muslim religion, such as praying to Allah?

On another school’s field trip to a mosque, girls didn’t have to wear Islamic-approved clothing but they had to kneel down and pray to Allah

Although attending the trip is voluntary, the dress code is mandatory. Islam has begun infiltrating America’s public schools and the ideology of Islam is poisoning the minds of our young people in the name of education. It is important to learn about the religion and culture that hates our country’s religious base and everything America stands for, but forced participation in its customs is unnecessary.
