Fort Hood Rampage Shooter Charged, 13 Counts of Murder
And Yes, He is Paralized
U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan has been charged with
13 counts of premeditated murder for his shooting rampage last week
at Fort Hood.
Hasan fired more than 100 rounds at fellow soldiers filling out deployment paperwork before a civilian police officer shot him and stopped the attack.
Hasan will be tried in the military's court-martial system and the charges, most likely, will bring with them the death penalty.
There have been many reports discussing Hasan's possible ties to foreign terrorist groups, but authorities have declined to confirm or comment on a possible MO (Modus Operandi).
Nidal Hasan has come out of a coma and is, now, talking to investigators about the motives behind his actions.
This may be the first time Hasan has acted out in a violent manner; however, his name is not unknown to his military superiors. A little over a year ago, in a series of sessions, Hasan met with several doctors to discuss problems with his performance and mental state.
Some of Hasan's former colleagues describe him as aloof and belligerent, with frequent outbursts when someone would discuss his Muslim faith.
Military officials decided against discharging him because they believed he was not violent and posed no threat to his fellow soldiers.
In July he was moved to Fort Hood to help "lessen his workload."
President Obama has vowed that the "killer will be met with justice."
