Matrix Producer Enlists Help of Muslim Brotherhood Preacher for Mohammed Movie
Barrie Osborne, the producer of the hit sci-fi
action trilogy called "The Matrix," is going to work on a new movie
about the life of the Prophet Mohammed, the founder of Islam,
according to The Guardian. The paper reports that Sheikh
Yousef al-Qaradawi, a prominent theologian in Qatar, will "oversee
all aspects of the shoot." The report does not mention that
al-Qaradawi is a top member of the radical Muslim Brotherhood
organization.
"[The film is] an international epic production aimed at bridging cultures. The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam," Osborne told Reuters.
Osborne is working with a production company in Qatar called Alnoor Holdings, which has decided to involve al-Qaradawi. The Guardian says that Mohammed will not be shown in the film because doing so violates Islam.
Sheikh Al-Qaradawi has a long history of supporting Hamas, insurgents in Iraq, the Taliban, and suicide bombers and preaching anti-Semitism. European Muslim groups condemned him in February after he made incendiary comments on Arab TV that were translated and publicized by the Middle East Media Research Institute.
"The last punishment was carried out by Hitler. Allah willing, the next time will be at the hand of the believers," al-Qaradawi was seen saying. He also said "I will shoot Allah's enemies, the Jews."
