Pastor Speaks on Being Jailed, Tortured by Myanmar Military

The Christian Post – A Christian pastor from northern Myanmar spoke about horrors he faced when jailed and tortured for more than a year, and he welcomed sanctions issued by the U.S. government against military leaders responsible for abuses.

Pastor Langjaw Gam Seng, jailed in 2016 for helping journalists report the bombing of Christian churches in the majority-Christian Kachin province, spoke at the U.S. State Department’s second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom about what Kachin Baptists face. 

While Myanmar military abuses of Rohingya Muslims is covered, and many advocates called it genocide, less reported is what the Christian community near the Myanmar border with China faces amid renewed fighting between the military and Kachin rebel groups.
