Alec Rooney, News Editor, Christian Action Network
After “My Pillow” businessman and Trump ally Mike Lindell was asked by two banks to close his accounts – and after numerous other examples of liberal activists trying to defund or de-bank conservatives – the Christian Action Network’s Shout Out Patriots podcast took on the subject in its Jan. 25 edition.
The show drew a parallel between Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi who famously dehumanizes unruly customers by shouting, “No Soup For You,” to the new Snowflake Nazis movement who have their own curse for conservatives and their patriotic organizations, “No Coin For You!”
CAN itself has had to deal with this phenomenon, all part of the leftist-liberal-Democrat-Big-Government-Big-Media campaign to hogtie and silence those who oppose them, their constitutional rights notwithstanding.
CAN President Martin Mawyer revealed that the Christian Action Network has been denied service by Discover Card, Global Payment Systems, Quickbooks, an insurance company, and most recently a local bank that served the organization for over 20 years, BB&T.
BB&T didn’t even have to give a reason for asking that CAN close its account, he said.
Mawyer was joined on the podcast by Pastor Jason Binder, attorney David Carroll, CAN News Editor Alec Rooney and producer Michael Mawyer.
Look up “conservatives getting canceled” on the web and Google (as expected) will cough up a laundry list of conservatives calling for boycotts. Only a patient and prolonged research will reveal how liberal activists have been successfully convincing banks and credit card companies to deny services to conservative groups.
The point was also made that denial of services to conservative leaders and groups is also a denial of services to all who support them and want to communicate with them, so it constitutes discrimination against a huge portion of society.
“That’s why I like to call these people Snowflake Nazis, after the Seinfeld Soup Nazi. Well, it’s ‘no soup for you’ has basically been twisted into ‘no coin for you.’ If we don’t like your political statement, we’re going to deny you the right not only to make money, but we’re going to deny the right of people who want to give you that money, the chance and the ability to give you that money for the service or product that you’re now offering them.'”
Pastor Jason pointed out how it is “very troubling” that social media is letting entities like banks check up on their would-be customers’ politics, whether they are a Donald Trump supporter, whether they were in Washington on Jan. 6, 2021 and support conservative values, with the eventual possibility that some kind of “mark” will be needed to conduct business in the United States.
Attorney David Carroll raised the issue of private businesses being forbidden from discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, sex or national origin. “Banks are places of public accommodation. They cannot discriminate on the grounds of religion, but they can discriminate on the grounds of political preference or political view. There’s nothing in the statute that prohibits a private entity from discriminating on the basis of politics. A government couldn’t do it, but a private business could do it.”
“It seems to me like we’re basically breeding Nazis here,” Michael Mawyer said. “We are going from a spot where tolerance was the idea, to now, it’s being shunned based on just their idea of tolerance, which is backward from what it really is. They are intolerant of those they disagree with, which makes the so-called ‘tolerant’ the ones who are intolerant.”
One definite product of the conversation was the idea of legislation to guard against people needing an official government “mark” to do business either as vendors or customers. Martin Mawyer proposed the following:
- Amending the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to include “political orientation.”
- A stand-alone bill with this language: “No federal government mandate, order, law, government-issued body mark, implant, injection, permit, passport, or other form of compulsory licensing instrument or branding can be issued that solely or conjointly forbids the right of American citizens to buy, sell, engage in commercial enterprise or commerce, or to seek employment.”
