The Global Ramifications of the Finnish Trial
What’s happening right now in Finland isn’t just an attack on religious freedom; it’s a full-on assault on the bedrock of Western civilization.!
Two Finnish officials, Parliament member Päivi Räsänen and Bishop Juhana Pohjola, are now literally standing trial for expressing Christian beliefs on marriage and sexuality. This isn’t some dark dystopian future – it’s happening in the 21st century!
Parliament member Päivi Räsänen tweeted a New Testament verse in 2019 that condemns homosexuality after her church supported a pride event.
In 2004, she published a pamphlet within her church group called “Male and Female He Created Them.” This pamphlet outlined Biblical views on marriage at a time when gay marriage was illegal in Finland.
Bishop Juhana Pohjola? He allowed the publication of that pamphlet.
That’s it! And now, these two individuals have been “dragged through the Finnish court system.”
Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, and his fellow GOP colleagues aren’t standing idly by.
They’ve penned a fiery letter demanding action against the “rogue prosecutor” who’s “dead set on weaponizing” Finland’s legal system to silence Christians. They’re calling out this injustice for what it is: an open war on Christianity.
Where is the Biden administration in all of this? Will they step in and support religious freedom? It’s time to know where they stand. But no one should be holding their breath.
This is far from a Finnish problem. As the lawmakers stated, “History will remember this case for either stopping the madness or as the beginning of the end as the West declares open war on Christianity.”
Neither Räsänen nor Pohjola are dangerous individuals needing imprisonment to protect society. Räsänen is a mother, grandmother, medical doctor, and parliament member for 30 years. Pohjola has been a pastor for over 20 years and a Bishop.
These are respected individuals, and yet they face legal harassment for simply being Christians.
This case will indeed have worldwide ramifications. It’s a struggle for the very soul of the West to preserve the core values that define who we are. Freedom of expression and freedom of religion aren’t just American rights; they’re human rights.
This isn’t a moment for America to stand on the sidelines; it’s a call to action.
We must stand shoulder to shoulder with all people of good faith and condemn this assault on Christian freedom. If we don’t, who will be next? The Gospel of Christ is indeed at stake, as Bishop Pohjola put it best. It’s time we recognize the battle and rise to meet it.
