SiLive. STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — After backlash from fans over a partnership with Chick-fil-A, the Staten Island Yankees organization has dissolved its agreement with the chain, according to The Pride Center of Staten Island.
After Chick-fil-A and the Staten Island Yankees announced a partnership for the 2019 season, borough residents threatened to boycott baseball games at the club’s Richmond County Bank Ballpark in St. George because the chain has made donations to anti-LGBTQ groups.
“As many of you know, the Pride Center of Staten Island asked the community to disengage with Staten Island Yankees events due to that partnership,” said Carol Bullock, executive director of the Pride Center of Staten Island Inc.
A representative of the Staten Island Yankees didn’t immediately respond to Advance queries for comment. In addition, Chick-fil-A didn’t respond to Advance calls for comment.
