On Tuesday, the US Supreme Court declined to accept the case of a public school teacher in Maryland who asked her students to recite the Islamic “conversion prayer” for a passing grade.
Caleigh Wood, an 11th grade Christian student at La Plata High School is being defended by the Thomas More Law Center.
Thomas More said “by making a written profession of the Muslim conversion prayer known as the shahada – ‘There is no god by allah and Muhammad is the messenger of allah,’ Wood refused to deny her Christian beliefs.”
The 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the teacher by saying she did not violate the Establishment Clause but the US Supreme Court did not. Christian Action Network filed a “friend-of-the-court” brief in support of Caleigh Wood at the 4th Circuit.
Wood was also forced to view a series of PowerPoint slides that promoted Islam despite all the problems afflicting that religion and the atrocities committed by ISIS. One of the slides even cast aspersions on Christians by saying, “Most Muslims’ faith is stronger than the average Christian’s.”
The high school’s content specialist, Jack Tuttle condemned the teacher’s actions in court.
Thomas More’s chief counsel, Richard Thompson, said that he was “not aware of any public school which has forced a Muslim student to write the Lord’s Prayer or John 3:16.”
I hope to God that our President sees this!! What kind of Judge is this?? This is America where we should never have to recite anything like this!!!
The SCOTUS is allowing the incursition of islam by proselytizing which other Faiths do not have the rights to do. WHAT”S all that about!???
Is this a violation of separation of church & state? Is equal time given to learning the Lord’s Prayer & what the Bible teaches? I would bet not. Christians need to wake up to the fact that this is no longer a Christian nation. We are now in the minority. However we should not shrink from confessing our faith & standing up for the rights of Christians, even in the public school venues. But we must do so in love to try to win our neighbors to Christ. That does not mean we should not say things are wrong & go against what God says. What better message could we have than the one God has given us. John 3:16.
