Texas House Aims to Ban All Abortions, Defy Federal Rules

Christian News – A bill to outlaw abortion in Texas took its first steps forward in the state legislature and is now assigned to the House Committee on Judiciary & Civil Jurisprudence, chaired by a lawmaker who co-sponsored an identical bill to abolish abortion in 2017.

Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen referred the Abolition of Abortion in Texas Act, House Bill 948, to the committee, led by Rep. Jeff Leach, R-Plano. Rep. James White, R-Hillister, who also serves on the committee, is already a co-sponsor of the measure.
