It appears 2020 is the year of the epidemic, and shaky Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has found another one: murderous violence against transgender people of color in the U.S.

Only this epidemic has a mere 10 cases. With 40 percent of them in Puerto Rico.

Biden is pledging to tackle this tidal wave of violence should he become president, PinkNews reports.

Some 10 transgender people have been murdered in the U.S. so far in 2020, including four in Puerto Rico. The most recent incident is 28-year-old woman wannabe Nina Pop, who was found stabbed to death in his Missouri apartment.

Biden thundered (on Facebook): “We cannot be silent in the face of rising violence against transgender people of color — like the recent tragedies in Missouri and Puerto Rico. It’s our moral obligation to end this epidemic, and ensure everyone can live open and proud and free from fear.”

To further lock up the LGBTQ voting bloc, which he probably win by default anyway, Biden has a plan on “LGBT+ issues” that includes the statement: “As a direct response to the high rates of homicide of transgender people — particularly transgender women of color — the Biden Administration will make prosecuting their murderers a priority.

“And during his first 100 days in office, Biden will direct federal resources to help prevent violence against transgender women, particularly transgender women of color.”

The fumbling, often confused Democratic nominee also pledges to pass the Equality Act, which has been stalled in the Senate since being passed in the House in May 2019.
