Law enforcement authorities, jails and prisons are unfortunate necessities in human society. Only, what are they meant to control and contain? What would society be like without them?
The United States might be close to finding out.
Leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement, who support and are supported by radical Democrats, want their payment for justifying unrest in so many U.S. cities in 2020. They are demanding a meeting with a Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration, demanding support for the “BREATHE Act,” which features a “roadmap’ to abolishing law enforcement and demands for reparations to blacks.
BLM portrays the act as “a radical reimagining of public safety, community care, and how we spend money as a society,” and it includes a list of demands that align closely with the goals of radical left legislators.
FOX News reports that BLM founders, including confessed Marxist Patrisse Cullors, and their “Squad” in Congress — notably Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) — are pressing for the BREATHE Act to pass Congress and be rubber-stamped by a Biden White House.
Although the report only included a “summary” of the BREATHE Act, its campaign website notes that it includes a full divestment of “federal resources” from law enforcement — defunding the police and immigration enforcement on a federal level — and ending incarceration, a priority that also includes the “full decarceration of federal detention facilities within 10 years and enacts a moratorium on all new federal prison, jail, immigrant and youth detention construction.”
In other words, turn criminals loose on everyone else and hand out the “saved” money generously in “minority communities.”
Cullors wrote an op-ed for “Teen Vogue” last week that makes it clear that she not only expects the Biden administration to pass the BREATHE Act, she believes Joe Biden and Kamala Harris should use the legislation as a means of “repaying” support from the black leftist community.
