It’s a chilling image that recalls ISIS, holding knives to the necks of hostages.
A tattooed and shirtless man making hand symbols as he kneels on the neck of a white male toddler who wears only a diaper, while another hand holds the child down with his hands behind his back.
An Ohio man is in jail awaiting felony charges after this exact photo was posted on social media, accompanied by a caption supporting Black Lives Matter, as reported by Milwaukee FOX 6 and numerous other outlets.
The menacing photo that hit social media on July 21 appears to be a direct reference to ex-Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin, who knelt on the neck of a black suspect who subsequently died and whose name has been used to rally violent ongoing protests across the nation.
The man appearing to abuse the child in the photo has been identified as 20-year-old Isaiah Jackson.
Police were able to determine the location of the photo and contacted both the mother and the child, as well as the male in the image, the Clark County, Ohio Sheriff’s Office stated on July 23. The relationship between Jackson and the child’s mother is unknown.
Jackson was taken into custody and is in the Clark County Jail. He is waiting for the county prosecutor “to provide a determination on the scope and breadth of the felony charges that will be supported by that office for presentation in court,” according to the sheriff’s office.
The child, who has not been identified by authorities, was taken to a hospital for examination, where he was found to have no injuries related to the incident.
The sheriff’s office said the mother claimed to have been “unaware of the photo having been taken, or its contents, until she had been informed by other parties while the Sheriff’s Office was en route to her home to begin the investigation into this incident.” An investigation is ongoing.
