Board Ignores Parental Pleas Against Drag Queen Access to Kids

Courier & Press – The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation Board of Trustees Monday rejected calls to remove its appointees to the public library board before a Feb. 23 library program that involves drag queens reading books to young children.

Opponents of Drag Queen Story Hour urged the school board to replace its three appointees, saying the action is needed to stop the event and protect children from a show of immorality.

Others at Monday’s school board meeting noted the program is voluntary, and they praised its mission to promote inclusion and acceptance.
