The country that is so expert on Christian theology that it actually rewrote the Bible to better reflect “socialist values” has now accused the U.S. secretary of state of betraying his own Christian faith.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been repeating the claim that the coronavirus escaped from a Wuhan lab. The Global Times, a major Communist propaganda outlet, alleged in an editorial that as a “devout Christian,” Pompeo is guilty of the sin of lying and suggested that he should be punished.
The theological criticism comes after the Chinese state broadcaster labelled Pompeo “evil” as tensions between Beijing and Washington intensify over the coronavirus pandemic, according to MailOnline.
The Global Times also said on May 4 that President Trump is “trying to impede global efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic” after Trump said China tried to conceal the outbreak.
Relations between the nations have deteriorated quickly after an investigation was launched to find out if the virus originated at the Institute of Virology in Wuhan, known for studying deadly, bat-related coronaviruses.
A classified Chinese report has also allegedly warned of possible “armed confrontation” between Beijing and Washington as the Communist Party faces global backlash over the spreading of the killer infection.
Billed as China’s ‘most belligerent tabloid’, the Global Times has been at the forefront of defending Beijing’s actions and denouncing the West over its criticism against the Community Party.
