Actress Debra Messing took to Twitter yesterday to say, “THANK YOU,” to a Baptist church displaying a sign reading: ‘A black vote for Trump is mental illness.’ It seems liberals think they can support their own brand of racism without any public backlash.
The back of the sign read: ‘A white vote for Trump is pure racism.’
The pastor of the New Era Baptist Church is in Birmingham, Alabama fully stands behind his yard sign.
“God motivates me to take a stand for what’s right,” pastor Michael Jordan told WVTM. “Read the bible, if they call me a racist, look in the White House.”
Some Twitter users immediately took issue with Messing, the former co-star of Will & Grace, and her support for the racist comment.
“I had no idea Hollywood still harbored this level of prejudice against people of color. Disgusting,” wrote @mrjavhead.
Messing’s tweet yesterday is not the only comments getting her bad publicity this week.
She’s also being criticized (along with co-star Eric McCormack) for asking The Hollywood Reporter to expose all actors who attend an upcoming fundraising event for President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign.
Messing wants the actors attending the Beverly Hills September 17 event to be doxed.
“Please print a list of all attendees please. The public has a right to know,’ Messing tweeted early Saturday. She also included a link to the Hollywood Reporter story.
Actor Eric McCormack, a leading gay-rights activist, was even more blunt in his goal of exposing actors who attend the fundraising event. He wants them banned from future Hollywood film roles.
“Hey, @THR, kindly report on everyone attending this event, so the rest of us can be clear about who we don’t wanna work with. Thx,” he wrote.
Last month, Messing also came under fire when she tweeted, shortly after the mass shootings in El Paso, TX: “If I get killed in a mass shooting please create me and throw my ashes into Mitch McConnell’s and Dana Loesch’s eyes while I’m still smoldering.”
The tweet angered even her most avid followers.
“I loved Will & Grace (it should have been the Jack & Karen show) but you’re obviously a sick person. Please seek help. Seriously,’ wrote @Carolewithane13.
