Email service provider Mailchimp, plans to censor outgoing emails

The email marketing company Mailchimp has decided to join their Big Tech buds and declare themselves arbiters of truth.

Try to imagine the U.S. Postal Service announcing that from now on it will be reading all the mail and “removing” anything it deems “materially false, inaccurate, or misleading in a way that could deceive or confuse others.”

The email marketing company Mailchimp, which claims to have millions of customers around the world, adopted that policy this week to silence certain content, as if this were completely its business.

Mailchimp, which has been used by the Christian Action Network, determined it will use its “sole discretion” to determine whether messages are misleading and can be removed.

In a message to customers obtained by The Daily Signal, the company said the policy change became effective Oct. 28. The message said the policy attempts to dictate “what kinds of Content are prohibited for distribution using the Mailchimp platform.”

“Mailchimp does not allow the distribution of Content that is, in our sole discretion, materially false, inaccurate, or misleading in a way that could deceive or confuse others about important events, topics, or circumstances,” the message reads.

The “big tech” company warned it will enforce its new rules by “issuing a warning to, or suspending or terminating an account.”

Mailchimp did not immediately respond to inquiries from The Daily Signal. Founded in 2001, Mailchimp claims to have millions of customers and focuses on enabling entrepreneurs to easily reach customers through email marketing. Based in Atlanta, the company also has offices in New York, Oakland, and Vancouver
