It seems like it might be difficult to find a spot in line to cross the southern border of the United States illegally, what with all the illegal immigrants queued up to enter, but it seems that people on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database have made it into the crowd.
The Customs and Border Protection agency confirmed to Congress on March 16 that four individuals arrested at the border since Oct. 1 match names on the FBI’s list (which might well include all the Donald Trump supporters who were in Washington on Jan. 6), a congressional aide revealed to Axios news.
Three of those arrested were from Yemen and one was from Serbia. The four arrests exceed the number of similar people of concern taken into custody during recent full fiscal years, the source said. In fiscal 2018, authorities arrested six people from Yemen and Bangladesh.
Most infiltrators arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border come from Mexico or Central America and are seeking asylum, “family reunification,” benefits or better jobs in the U.S.
President Trump and other conservatives were often taken to task by mainstream journalists and other Democrats over their warnings about foreign terrorists entering the United States via the southern border — the warnings were called inaccurate or unfounded. Turns out, maybe not.
The watchlist is long, and it includes people who are “known to be or reasonably suspected of being involved in terrorist activities,” according to the FBI.
The Department of Homeland Security stopped more than 3,700 people on the watch list from coming into the country during fiscal year 2017, ending Sept. 30, 2017, most at airports.
