The multiple-choice question on the history quiz at a California high school asked test-takers to identify “A group of complete idiots.”
The four answer options were: “KKK,” “all of Florida,” “FOX news,” and “Texans.”
Whitney High School, located in the Sacramento suburb of Rocklin, is now “investigating” the quiz question after someone took a screenshot of the online test and circulated it among parents, reports FOX News.
The school released a statement on Nov. 6 saying it would investigate the wildly divisive and prejudiced statement, presumably dreamed up by a teacher.
“These stories have gone in one ear and out the other,” said parent Jessa Krissovich, who shared the screenshot on social media. “It sounded unbelievable.”
Another parent, who preferred to remain anonymous, said divisive and partisan politics have been a longtime concern with the teacher in question, and that his comments are mostly directed against the Republican Party.
“We all have different beliefs,” Krissovich said. “This is the United States and we all come from different backgrounds and everybody should be OK with who they are.”
In a letter to parents, Whitney High School said they share parents’ concerns and promised that “appropriate disciplinary steps will be taken.”
