Welcome to Shout Out Patriots, the podcast where we shine a light on the issues that matter most to our faith, our families, and our freedoms. I’m your host, Martin Mawyer, president of the Christian Action Network, and I’m thrilled to have you joining us today—whether you’re a first-time listener or a faithful supporter.

This week, we’ve got some eye-opening segments that you won’t want to miss. We’ll be diving into the shocking trial of a Pride co-founder accused of kidnapping children, the left’s relentless campaign to erase George Washington from history, and the cautionary tale of Playboy’s failed woke rebrand. Plus, we’ll take a closer look at the true origins of Valentine’s Day—a story that’s far more profound than chocolates and roses.

So, turn the volume up, patriots. We’re about to tackle some gripping topics, expose some uncomfortable truths, and remind ourselves why it’s so important to stay vigilant in these challenging times. Let’s get started.

Pride Co-Founder on Trial for Kidnapping Children

A few years ago, the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus released a song titled ‘We’re Coming for Your Children.’ We were told the chorus was meant to be taken as humor and to be understood as satire.

But that’s not how most moms and pops saw it. They saw it as a direct threat to their children. And, as expected, they weren’t laughing.

Fast forward to today, and we’re seeing a court case that throws further doubt on whether that song was nothing but satire: the co-founder of an LGBT organization, Pride in Surrey, and a volunteer in the organization are both on trial for allegedly targeting schoolchildren.

They have been charged with a total of 40 offenses between them, which include conspiring to assault children sexually and kidnapping.

First, let’s talk about satire.

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus may have intended to ridicule the idea that LGBTQ+ individuals are a danger to children. But what if some gays and lesbians don’t see it as satire and instead see it as marching orders to go after kids?

That brings us to the case involving Stephen Ireland, the co-founder of Pride in Surrey, and David Sutton, a volunteer for the organization.

Ireland and Sutton are currently on trial for allegedly targeting children for sexual exploitation.

These allegations are horrifying if proven true. They are even accused of discussing kidnapping and raping a child in the changing room of a swimming pool.

Here’s where things get complicated.

When a song like ‘We’re Coming for Your Children’ exists in the same space as allegations like these, it can create a perception—fair or not—that the boundaries being pushed by satire are being taken literally by some.

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus may have thought they were dismantling a harmful stereotype, but for some, this supposedly satirical song became a rallying cry for two accused men in Surrey: Find children. Convert them. Even kidnapped the tots. And do it with Pride.

George Washington Faces Cancellation in a State Named After Him

I wish this next story were nothing but humorous satire, something from the creative minds of Babylon Bee. Instead, it’s yet another chapter of the left’s relentless campaign to rewrite history, erase our founding fathers, and replace them with anybody other than the man who literally led us to independence.

It won’t take three guesses to determine who I’m talking about. That’s right—George Washington, the father of our country, the man whose face adorns the Washington state flag, is now in the crosshairs of woke progressive politicians who seem to believe that the man who built this nation is no longer worthy of representing it, or their state.

We’re talking about the man – the hero! – who led the Continental Army to victory against the British Empire. The man who set the standard for the presidency. The man who, by the way, has the state named after him.

But that’s not good enough for the progressive mob. They want him gone. And why? Because, like everything else they don’t like, he doesn’t fit their modern-day narrative.

He’s not woke enough. He’s not, well, diverse enough.

So, what’s their plan? Simple: erase him. Replace him. Redesign the Washington state flag to reflect better what they call the ‘diverse communities’ of the Evergreen State. Because, apparently, George Washington—the man who helped create this country—doesn’t represent Washington state anymore.

Let’s break this down because it’s not just about a flag. It’s about something much bigger. It’s about the left’s obsession with tearing down the past and replacing it with their own sanitized, politically correct version of history. And it’s happening right before our eyes.

Here’s the story: Washington state lawmakers—Strom Peterson, Julia Reed, and Greg Nance—have introduced House Bill 1938, a piece of legislation that would scrap the current state flag, which features George Washington’s face, and replace it with something more ‘representative.’

Representative of what, you ask? Well, they haven’t exactly said. But we can guess.

One of the bill’s supporters, a blogger named Emmett O’Connell, wrote that the current flag is ‘deeply and historically bad.’ Bad? Is George Washington bad? Really?

He went on to say that symbols matter—and he’s right. Symbols do matter. That’s why they’re trying to get rid of this one. Because George Washington, to them, is a symbol of everything they hate about America.

But here’s the thing: George Washington isn’t just a symbol. He’s a historical figure. A real person. A man who, yes, lived in a different time with different norms but who also laid the foundation for the freedoms we enjoy today.

And yet, to the progressive left, he’s nothing more than a slave owner—a villain to be canceled, erased, and replaced.

Sound familiar? It should. This is the same playbook they’ve used for years. Tear down statues. Rename schools. Cancel holidays. And now, they’re coming for the flags.

It’s not about progress. It’s about control. It’s about rewriting history to fit their ideology. And it’s about sending a message: if they can erase George Washington, they can erase anyone.

Now, let’s talk about the people pushing this nonsense. Emmett O’Connell, the blogger leading the charge, says the new flag should reflect the ‘beauty, diversity, and spirit of Washington.’

Okay, fine. But what does that even mean? What does a flag that reflects ‘diversity’ look like? A rainbow? A drag queen? A BLM fist? They haven’t shown us any designs yet, but we know it won’t include George Washington.

And let’s not forget the comments from everyday Washingtonians who are pushing back. One commenter, Bruce Heyduck, said, ‘Spend your time while there in Olympia resolving the issue of gangs and the exploding crime problem amongst the young.’

And then there’s Curtis M, who nailed it: ‘What’s the matter with the flag? Not enough color? Maybe a rainbow in the background? Drag queens to represent the state’s standing on DEI and LGBTQ+?’

Exactly. This isn’t about the flag. It’s about virtue signaling. It’s about appeasing the woke mob. And it’s about distracting from the real issues—like crime, homelessness, and failing schools—that these politicians should address instead of wasting time on flag redesigns.

Here’s the bottom line: George Washington isn’t just a symbol of Washington state. He’s a symbol of America. And if they can erase him, they can erase anyone. They can erase you. They can erase me. They can erase everything this country stands for.

So, what’s next? Will they rename the state? Will they tear down the Washington Monument? Will they cancel the Fourth of July? At this point, nothing would surprise me.

This isn’t just about a flag. It’s about who we are as a nation. And if we let them erase George Washington, we’re letting them erase us.

Nudity, Nostalgia, and Woke Nightmares: Playboy Attempts Rocky Road Back

Talk about the perfect story that illustrates the dangers of abandoning your core values in pursuit of woke approval. I have one for you.

It’s a tale of a once-iconic brand that lost its way, alienated its audience, and nearly destroyed itself—all in the name of progressivism. I’m talking, of course, about Playboy.

Now, let me be clear: this isn’t necessarily an endorsement of Playboy or its content. But what happened to Playboy is a cautionary tale for any organization, business, or even a nation that strays too far from its roots in an attempt to appease the woke mob.

So, let’s break this down.

Playboy was once a cultural icon—a symbol of a certain era, for better or worse. But in recent years, it decided to reinvent itself. Gone were the traditional beauty standards, the classic aesthetic, and even the nudity that made it famous.

Instead, Playboy embraced woke ideology with open arms.

Under new leadership, the magazine featured transgender Playmates, non-binary celebrities, and even male models. Nudity was banned, and the iconic Playboy Bunnies were rebranded as ‘brand ambassadors.’

The magazine’s editorial team proudly declared that they were redefining beauty, arousal, and eroticism to be more ‘inclusive.’ Because nothing says ‘hot and steamy’ like seeing a non-binary photoshoot and reading a discussion on gender fluidity.

They featured activists, politicians, and social justice warriors. They held events discussing feminism and conversion therapy. They even interviewed MeToo founder Tarana Burke and LGBTQ activist Sam Brinton—who, by the way, was later fired from the Biden administration after being charged with grand larceny.

But here’s the thing: it didn’t work.

In fact, it was a disaster. Playboy’s woke rebrand alienated its core audience, and the print magazine ceased publication within a year. Go woke, go broke—it’s a lesson we’ve seen time and time again.”

Now, Playboy is trying to make a comeback. They’ve brought back nudity, traditional beauty standards, and a focus on what made them famous in the first place. Their latest issue features a stunning model in a fully nude spread (or so I’m told), and the cover girl is Lori Harvey, who’s described as ‘America’s hottest nepo baby.’

They’ve even republished a 1990 interview with Donald Trump—something that would’ve been unthinkable during its woke era.

But here’s the question: is it too little, too late? Can Playboy really reclaim its identity after so thoroughly abandoning it? Gaining an audience is tough enough; recapturing an offended audience is nearly impossible.

Beyond Chocolates and Roses: The Christian Roots of Valentine’s Day

I hope Valentine’s Day was more than just sweet chocolates and heartfelt cards. Just last week, we all celebrated a day that, believe it or not, has far more profound and solemn roots than many realize.

Let’s take a moment to uncover the true origins of what is actually a profound religious celebration.

So, let’s start with a surprising fact. How many of you know that Valentine’s Day didn’t start out as a secular festival of love but rather as a deeply religious celebration?

Yes, the roots of Valentine’s Day stretch way back to the early days of Christianity, not to the greeting card aisles of your local store.

The man behind this day, Saint Valentine, was a priest in Rome in the third century, a time when Christianity was not the favored religion it is in many parts of the world today.

The Emperor at the time, Claudius II, believed that unmarried soldiers fought better than those wedded to wives and families, leading him to outlaw marriages for young people.

But here’s where our hero steps in. Seeing this decree’s cruelty, Saint Valentine began to perform secret marriages for young lovers—true acts of defiance against an oppressive regime.

Sadly, Valentine was caught, as is often the case with those who stand against tyranny. His punishment was imprisonment and eventual martyrdom. His death wasn’t in vain, though, as the Church commemorated him, and February 14th was set as Saint Valentine’s Day.

By the Middle Ages, poets like Geoffrey Chaucer linked this day with romantic love, and from there, the association blossomed into what we now recognize as Valentine’s Day.

But the day’s essence is much more than romance; it’s about bravery, sacrifice, and standing up for what is right.

So, as we reflect on last week’s celebration, remember that you’re participating in a tradition that honors romantic love and the courage and valor of a man who valued love so deeply that he was willing to die for it.

And that, my friends, is Valentine’s Day’s true, often forgotten meaning. Let’s carry this story forward, not just on February 14th but every day.

Until next time, keep fighting the good fight, and stay true to your beliefs.
