Saying that Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are the two sides in a “war for the heart and soul of the Republican Party,” and thus for the future of America and the world, a candidate for Senate is basing his whole campaign on kicking out the Kentucky Senate majority leader.
“Today I unveil my pledge to America, to fire Mitch McConnell,” says Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama, who faces a May 24 GOP primary against Katie Britt and Mike Durant.
“If elected to the Senate, I will not vote for Mitch McConnell for leader, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that Republicans choose a conservative to be leader.
“America cannot afford a Senate leader who is a weak-kneed, debt junkie, open-border RINO Republican, and who, worse yet, sells out America for special interest group cash.”
Brooks’ message appears on a website that lets visitors sign a pledge to “fire McConnell.” In a video on the site Brooks urges Durant and Britt to take the pledge as well.
According to tuscaloosanews.com, Durant recently surged in the race with a massive media buy that lends credence to Brooks’ claim that McConnell is pouring Washington, D.C. money into the race to split up the conservative vote and save his skin:
