London Breed, San Francisco’s Mayor has issued a memorandum preventing city officials from banning contractors in the city who engage in business activities with the NRA (National Rifle Association).

Faced with the prospect of a lawsuit from NRA after San Francisco called it a domestic terrorist organization, the Mayor announced through a memo that, “No

department will take steps to restrict any contractor from doing business with the NRA or to restrict City contracting opportunities for any business that has any relationship with the NRA.”

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors had originally passed a resolution urging the city and the state to “take every reasonable step to limit those entities who do business with the City and County of San Francisco from doing business with this domestic terrorist organization.”

The resolution also claimed, “The National Rifle Association musters its considerable wealth and organizational strength to promote gun ownership and incite gun owners to acts of violence.” The liberal-controlled board also accused the NRA of spreading misinformation and indulging in propaganda, and even stated that NRA is responsible for arming individuals who “have committed acts of terrorism.”

NRA’s CEO and EVP Wayne LaPierre issued a statement following the organization’s victory in this situation saying that: “The NRA will always fight to protect our members and the constitutional freedoms in which they believe.”
