Satanists Punked IRS, Gain Tax Exempt Status as if a Religion

The Daily Mail – A Satanic church claims to be the first Satanist group in American history to be officially recognized as a religion by the IRS. The Satanic Temple received section 501(c) tax exempt status.

It means the Satanic Temple, with 16 chapters in the U.S. and thousands of followers around the world, can apply for certain federal grants, putting it in the same bracket as major religions and organizations such as Catholicism and the Salvation Army.

Anyone who donates money to the group can write it off as a tax deduction. Founder Lucien Greaves said it should, “lay to rest any suspicion that we don’t meet the qualifications of a true religious organization.”
