Capital-Journal News – Former Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback endorsed placement of 10 nations on a list of the most egregious violators of religious freedom on the planet.
Brownback, who resigned from office nearly one year ago to be the State Department’s ambassador at large for international religious freedom, said systematic violations of freedom of religion were occurring in China, Eritrea, Iran, Myanmar, North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
“Unfortunately, 80 percent of the world’s population lives in a country where there’s some type of religious freedom restrictions,” Brownback said. “It’s also important to note that most countries have signed on to the UN Charter Declaration of Human Rights.”
