To watch Congressional Democrats is to understand that they see no greater problem in the United States than the continued existence of Donald Trump, for they seem focused on little else.
Their primary strategy against him is panic signaling, in which they feign fear and alarm in an attempt to make Trump look like a danger to the public.
The latest example is a Democratic congressman who filed a federal lawsuit on Feb. 16 accusing Trump once again of causing a demonstration at the U.S. Capitol which led to several deaths, the only direct killing being the shooting of an unarmed female Trump supporter in a Capitol hallway by an alleged police officer. The story was covered at DailyMail.com, along with numerous other outlets.
Trump was also accused of conspiring with his lawyer and extremist groups to try to keep the Senate from certifying the results of Joe Biden’s “victory” in the highly irregular 2020 presidential election, which bore many obvious marks of corruption and fraud.
Mississippi’s Rep. Bennie Thompson, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, filed the suit. It is part of an expected wave of litigation over the Jan. 6 demonstration and seeks unspecified punitive and compensatory damages.
The case also names as defendants the Republican former president’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani and groups including the Proud Boys and the Oath Keepers, organizations that attract current and former members of the military and law enforcement.
Lawyers for Trump have denied that he incited the incident, as his speech the same day mentioned only peaceful protest and he spoke at length about the election that was stolen from him.
