Leftists have nearly always embraced military personnel who question leadership, question wars, question authority, protest in uniform, or throw their medals away a la John Kerry.
That appears to have ended.
Under the most radically leftist administration in U.S. history, a U.S. Marine has been jailed for publicly questioning military authorities over the bungled U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller posted a video to Facebook in August that demanded accountability for the chaos and loss of lives and equipment. Since then he has made more posts, daring to question his superiors and revealing how he is being asked to not post anything further.
The military news website Task & Purpose confirmed on Sept. 27 that Scheller is “currently in pre-trial confinement.”
“The time, date, and location of the proceedings have not been determined. Lt. Col. Scheller will be afforded all due process,” the statement from the Marine Corps’ Training and Education Command reads.
Scheller is due to appear in a hearing on Sept. 30, according to his father, Stu Scheller Sr.
“They had a gag order on him and asked him not to speak,” Scheller’s father said. “He did, and they incarcerated him. They don’t know what to do with him.”
The Marine’s Aug. 26 video has had more than a million views and thousands of comments, and definitely got the U.S. military’s attention.
“I have been advised not to make any further statements by all my lawyers, family/friends, and the teams of people trying to push me into different directions following my military career,” Scheller posted in early September.
