Planned Parenthood has unveiled a new $45 million campaign focused on backing candidates that support abortion rights in local, state, and national races.
Executive director of the superPAC Planned Parenthood Votes, Kelley Robinson, claimed advocates to be pushing back scrupulously against a “coordinated level of attack” from pro-life opponents.
In an interview with NPR, Robinson said, “It’s clear that all these attacks have one goal: to undermine and to gut Roe v. Wade.” Many people believe it should be a state by state issue like the marijuana issue and so many others.
The first priority for the group is to unseat President Trump in 2020 and then work to assist Democrats in taking over the US Senate, while maintaining Democratic control in the House.
The campaign involving digital, television and radio ads is targeted at nine key states with a large focus on 5 million voters nationwide. The key states include Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Robinson while talking about the group’s 2018 effort that involved $30 million and saw the Democrats wrest control of the US House of Representatives stated, “We’ve built some serious grassroots power in the states with millions of new supporters signing up.”
She said that $45 million represented an initial investment and that the group expected to raise more which is possible in a strong GDP economy.
