Political attacks are being blamed for nearly half of LGBT youth considering suicide

If being disapproved of and viciously attacked by politicians and the media really caused people to commit suicide, it’s not hard to imagine all the conservatives in the nation jumping off bridges or putting guns in their mouths.

Conservatives have been under withering attack by the media for decades, and the Biden administration and its allies are now amping up the attacks to a ridiculous degree through lies, stereotypes, false logic, false threats, false science, false history and even actual violence.

So why must the entire nation now bow down and cater to gays and people confused about their own gender?

Because if it doesn’t, half of the rainbow-flag girlboys and boygirls might all kill themselves.

Tough it out, snowflakes! That’s what we do.

The implied suicide threat comes from the Trevor Project, a group that provides “crisis support” for LGBTQ youth. Nearly half of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year, according to a survey the group conducted. The study found rising rates of suicidal thoughts as well as significant disparities among trans youth and LGBTQ youth of color. The survey was reported by a sympathetic NPR.

“The Trevor Project’s research demonstrates that suicidal thoughts have trended upward among LGBTQ young people over the last three years, making our life-saving work all the more important,” said Amit Paley, CEO and executive director of the group, in a press release on May 4. “The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and relentless political attacks during this time period cannot be understated.”

Haven’t, say, Christians also had to deal with COVID-19 and relentless political attacks?

Apparently, laws seeking to protect children from LGBTQ influence are much worse. In March, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed what opponents called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, though the bill merely bars teachers from discussing sexuality with young children. In April, Alabama’s state legislature voted to ban body- and life-changing medical procedures for young people who think – or who have been led to think – that they are the “wrong” gender.

According to the survey, 45 percent of LGBTQ youth seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year, and nearly 1 in 5 transgender and nonbinary youth actually attempted it. More than 60 percent of LGBTQ youth said their home wasn’t “affirming,” the survey found, and nearly 2 in 5 LGBTQ youth said they lived in a community that didn’t accept LGBTQ people.
