A trio of Democratic senators, one of whom famously lied about serving in Vietnam but got a career-saving pass from the liberal press, were to introduce legislation on May 19 that will require a Department of Justice license for anyone acquiring a legal firearm.
It would also raise the legal age for firearm ownership to 21, reports far-left mouthpiece The Hill.
The bill introduced by Sens. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn., the Vietnam liar), stands no chance of becoming law due to opposition from Republicans who understand the Second Amendment, but it shows Democrats’ strong opposition to an armed public, possibly the only obstacle to limitless power for their party.
Democrats and their media spokesmen continue to blame criminal shootings on legal gun ownership, though law-abiding people with guns are perhaps the best antidote to gun crime. Shooting sprees such as the May 2022 Buffalo supermarket massacre almost invariably lead to new proposals to separate law-abiding Americans from their means of defense.
The bill, called the Federal Firearm Licensing Act, would require residents to complete a written firearm safety test and hands-on testing, which includes shooting, to get the license to acquire a firearm. The license will also require those wanting to buy a gun to submit a criminal background check, fingerprints and proof of identity.
Criminals would presumably be exempt from all its requirements.
