Actor Ricky Schroder, known for his roles on Silver Spoons and NYPD Blue, has notified police after threatening messages came his way on social media from people angry that he had contributed to the $2 million dollar bail fund of Kyle Rittenhouse, who fatally shot two rioters in Kenosha, Wis. in August.
The actor on Nov. 22 tweeted a photo of himself holding a shotgun. The post included the caption: “To my Democrat Friends. This is the country want to live in? #f***antifa.”
The resulting stream of angry messages on social media prompted Schroder to call police, according to entertainment news site TMZ.
Celebrities including Bette Midler weighed in too, saying, “Who knew he could be so malevolent?”
Police determined none of the online comments rose to the level of a criminal threat, so officers just took a suspicious circumstances report. TMZ sources said Schroder will be in contact with authorities if things escalate, and that police are monitoring the situation.
Rittenhouse, of Antioch, Ill., is accused of fatally two men and wounding one during an August 25 protest in Kenosha, Wis. that followed the police shooting of Jacob Blake. Rittenhouse told police he was attacked while he was guarding a business and that he fired in self-defense.
