US President Donald Trump’s latest initiative includes setting up a new coalition of businesses to protect workplace religious freedom as told by the leader on Monday at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
Trump while hosting the event Global Call to Protect Religious Freedom said “This initiative will encourage the private sector to protect people of all faiths in the workplace. Too often, people in positions of power preach diversity while silencing, shunning or censoring the faithful.”
President of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee, Ronnie Floyd, applauded the event which was attended by over a 100 members of persecuted faith communities and government leaders from all over the world, including Muslims, Jewish leaders, and Christians.
Floyd told Baptist Press, “I applaud today’s call to broaden international support for the protection of religious freedom. It is time to bring an end to religious persecution and do all we can to see crimes cease against people of faith. I am grateful for President Trump speaking and leading in this global effort.”
Trump also pledged $25 million to protect religious relics and sites from criminal attacks. He proclaimed religious liberty to be one of the highest priorities.
