Firm resistance is emerging to the current fad of letting young people believe they can change their actual gender, and it is coming from Christians.
An elementary school teacher in Virginia is on leave after publicly telling the school board he will not participate in the transgender lie because it goes against his religion as a Christian, MailOnline.com is reporting.
In May, Christian Action Network filed a lawsuit against the Virginia Department of Education claiming its “Model Policies” for the treatment of transgender students in public schools is a violation of constitutionally protected rights of students, parents and teachers. CAN has asked a federal court in Lynchburg to stop the implementation of the guidelines.
In Byron Tanner Cross’s speech to the Loudoun County school board meeting on May 25, he went as far as to compare enabling transgenderism in students to actual child abuse.
Cross was denouncing two policies that the school board put in place: forcing teachers to use the pronouns a transgender child prefers, and letting transgender kids play sports with the gender they prefer to “be.”
“My name is Tanner Cross and I am speaking out of love for those who are suffering from gender dysphoria.
“60 Minutes” this past Sunday interviewed over 30 young people who transitioned but they felt led astray because of lack of pushback or how easy it was to make physical changes to their bodies… They are now de-transitioning.
“It’s not my intention to hurt anyone, but there are certain truths that we must face when ready. … We condemn school policies [that] would damage children, defile the holy image of God.
“I love all of my students but I will never lie to them regardless of the consequences.
“I’m a teacher but I serve God first and I will not affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa because it’s against my religion.
“It’s lying to a child, it’s abuse to a child, and it’s sinning against our God,” he said.
The principal of Leesburg Elementary sent an email to parents right after the meeting saying the physical education teacher had been put on leave. It’s unclear how long the leave will last.
Many parents are calling Cross a hero who exercised his first amendment rights. Others who have seen the video online say he is “transphobic,” harmful and shouldn’t be allowed to teach.
