Mawyer Calls Doctors ‘Stupid’ Who Want Laws to Ban Conversion Therapy

It is illegal in 32 states (brown) to practice conversion therapy on minors.

Some US doctors are demanding an end homosexual conversion therapies

In an article written in the New England Journal of Medicine, doctors and professors from Harvard University, Boston University and the University of Texas say conversion therapy is unethical, traumatic and can raise serious mental health risks.

Conversion therapy is an effort aimed at changing a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

The New England Journal of Medicine article says the practice can lead to depression and suicidal thoughts.

“Put simply, these practices need to end,” said Carl Streed Jr., MD, who is the article’s lead author. “We need to work across sectors to focus on ensuring that all individuals of all ages receive appropriate, comprehensive care by trained medical professionals in a supportive environment.”

Martin Mawyer, president of Christian Action Network, said the doctor’s should have focused on the real practitioners of conversion therapy — public schools, Hollywood elitists and homosexual activists.

“Apparently it’s ‘okay’ for these institutions, characters and organizations to put people through conversion therapy. But if a parent, doctor or church tries to help someone return to their God-given gender, it’s somehow ‘unethical’ and possibly illegal. Their hypocrisy is as evident as their stupidity,” Mawyer said.

Currently, 18 states have laws banning conversion therapy for people under the age of 18 years old. No states have bans on conversion therapies done to adults.
