Not to be outdone by the coercive violence of mobs in the United States, a terrorist with a knife has killed three people in the French city of Nice, the BBC reports.
Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, spoke of “Islamo-fascism” and that the suspect had “repeated endlessly ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is great)” during the Oct. 29 attack at the Notre-Dame basilica.
The current chant of coercive, intimidating violence in the U.S. is, of course, “Black Lives Matter.”
One elderly victim who had come to pray at the basilica was “virtually beheaded.” A second victim was slain inside the church, his throat cut, and while a woman managed to flee to a nearby cafe after being stabbed several times, she died later.
A suspect was shot and detained shortly afterwards.
The attack is rightly being called terrorism, and France’s national anti-terror prosecutors have opened a murder inquiry.
Mr. Estrosi likened the attack to the recent murder of teacher Samuel Paty, who was decapitated near his school outside Paris earlier this month.
The attack follows days of protests in some Muslim-majority countries triggered by President Macron’s defense of French cartoons – mere drawings – that depict the Prophet Mohammed in a negative light. There have been calls in some countries for a boycott of French-made goods.
Two subsequent attacks took place on the morning of Oct. 29, one in France and one in Saudi Arabia. A man was shot dead in Montfavet, near Avignon, after threatening police with a handgun. Also, a guard was attacked outside the French consulate in Jeddah. A suspect was arrested and the guard was taken to a hospital.
