In the cold of winter and the terror of winds that smash buildings, landscapes, and lives, miracles shine through.

After a tornado that ravaged part of western Kentucky last weekend, two babies desperately placed in a bathtub with a blanket were found alive under the fixture – which was overturned out in the yard. The whole tub had been tossed, yet the children somehow survived.

Also placed in the bathtub with the children, according to their grandmother and USA Today, was a Bible.

Clara Lutz told WFIE-TV that she put Kaden, 15 months old, and Dallas, 3 months, in the tub last Friday with a blanket, a pillow and the book.

When the tornado came the house in Hopkins County started shaking. “Next thing I knew, the tub had lifted and it was out of my hands,” Lutz said. “I couldn’t hold on. I just – oh my God.”

Lutz somehow survived as well, although the home was smashed to the foundation, and after the storm had passed she began searching for the children.

“All I could say was, ‘Lord please bring my babies back safely. Please, I beg thee,’” she said.

The storm’s death toll is at 90 so far.

Dallas had to go to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville because of a bleeding head, but Lutz said the bleeding stopped before Lutz got to the hospital.

Lutz said the parents of the children live on the north end of the county and their home was nearly untouched by the tornado.
